Learned Optimism

Learned Optimism

“Learned Optimism” by Martin Seligman

It is a very detailed book on optimism based on many scientific researches.

It starts by developing the correlation between pessimism and depression with the concept of helplessness.

Then Seligman explains how our explanatory style influences our level of optimism or pessimism.

Do we explain the reason of difficult situations with permanence, pervasiveness and personalisation?

The approach of the book is not to convince you to be an optimism at all cost as Seligman recognises that the pragmatism of pessimists is useful in some situations.

But he demonstrates how learned optimism (already at a young age) can really help a person to avoid depression, be healthier and life a successful life.

There are a few interesting tests in the book and techniques to dispute your current ways of thinking and learn optimism.

The Power of Now

The Power of Now

“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle

A book that does not leave you indifferent.
A book that is not easy to read.

To be honest, it had been on my shelf for a few months, even a few years …
I had already tried to read it but without success …

And then a month ago I took it and started it and it spoke to me. This book that I thought was way too complicated made sense and touched me.

I probably didn’t integrate or digest everything but what I understood resonated with me. It was a good time for me to read it.

I highly recommend this book!
It’s a reading that takes on its full meaning in this period …

A well-known spiritual awakening book available in many languages!

The Mastery of Love

The Mastery of Love

“The Mastery of Love : A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship” by Don Miguel Ruiz

It is all about LOVE and relationships! 💖

I really like this author and I’ve already recommended one of his book: “The 4 agreements”. I’ve truly enjoyed reading this one as well!

This book is spiritual, practical and full of wisdom.
It is pretty easy to read as it is quite direct, incisive, straight to the point.
It should be in the everyone’s hands!

Paying BIG

Playing BIG

“Playing BIG” by Tara Mohr

Another beautiful and inspiring book for all the women out there!

Playing BIG!

  • Listen to yourself, your dream and your inner wisdom.
  • Leave behind your fears, your good student habits, your inner critic.
  • Stop hiding, follow your calling and contribute to the world.

Definitely a book I wish I wrote as it resonates so much with my own journey and with what I do in my coaching practice.

I truly recommend it as it is very inspiring and very pragmatic at the same time!

Gratitude: A Way of Life

Gratitude

“Gratitude: A Way of Life” by Louise L Hay

I’ve really enjoyed reading this book.
It really made me realise the power of gratitude.

It is not a roman but a set of short essays written by various experts.
They give us their points of view about gratitude: what is gratitude for them, how can we practise gratitude, what is the power of gratitude,…

It is very inspiring!

As it is a set of short essays, you do not need to read the book at once, you can just get inspired by one essay one day at a time!

The 5 Love Languages

The 5 love languages

“The 5 love languages: the secret to love that lasts” by Gary Chapman.

I found this book very interesting for several reasons:

  • it helps us discover which kind of love language we are looking for
  • it also helps us discover the love languages of our close family and friends
  • and knowing that, it allows us to communicate better our love to ourselves and others

I also found that a comparison could be made with recognition as it also has various forms and it may happen we do not receive the kind of recognition we are looking for…
